IDEP has developed a wide range of Sustainable Development & Disaster Risk Reduction Education self-help resources, related to common development and environmental challenges faced in the region.

These resources are specially designed to be fun, engaging and provide children and their educators with an exciting way to learn how to become stewards of our world.

Preparing primary school children to be alert for environmental and disaster issues is our priority. Early education greatly influences the development of our next generation. Children are one of the vulnerable groups when disaster occur, so they need to know what to do. IDEP Foundation has assisted primary schools located in the disaster prone areas through training, and well as providing education about permaculture.

 

Resources are:

- Environmental & Disaster Preparedness Teaching Manual for Primary School

This handbook provides educators with background information for designing dynamic lesson plans for in-class and outdoor education activities.

- 8-titles of public education comic series: Tsunami, Landslide, Flood, Volcano, Earthquake, Storm, Building Peace, Terrorism

These 8 comic series are an engaging way to introduce community based disaster preparedness, to increase community awareness about specific types of disaster and to encourage community involvement in disaster mitigation and management.

- ‘Permaculture’ children’s activity book

This children's activity book brings knowledge and understanding of the key principles of community environmental management to children in a fun and hands-on way.

- ‘I Know Lots of Things About Disasters’ children’s activity book

This children's activity book brings knowledge and understanding of the key principles of community based disaster preparedness and management to children in a fun and hands-on way.

- Learnscapes Facilitator Resources DVD Rom

This DVD can be used by local facilitators to enhance the effectiveness of school activities and public awareness events for children about sustainable development and disaster management.

- ‘Tales of Disaster’ film DVD

This educational DVD uses 'puppets' to introduce children to understand the key aspects of community disaster response.

- ‘Let’s be Friends with the Environment!’ film DVD

This DVD is about household garden and many activities related to environment conservation and management and disaster preparedness by children and their communities.

- ‘Mina and Her Village Work for the Environment’ film DVD

This DVD introduces important topics about waste management, water and forest conservation and disaster preparedness to children.

- ‘Let’s be Friends with the Environment!’ Snake & Ladder game

This children's board game teaches some of the key principles of community environmental management to children in the classic snakes and ladders format.
